HottieStar Removal
Posted Under: Backdoor Bot, HottieStar Removal, PC Security
Many users have compromised their PC Security by downloading the ‘HottieStar’ addon.
This, with the users consent and knowledge, changes the search page, the home page and adds a toolbar to the browser which directs users to further pornographic sites.
It also installs a Backdoor Bot which is then used to create viruses, worms or other malware.
Removal is fairly simple, straightforward and free! Watch the video.
Open your brower(s)
Please note: When using CCleaner, open the user interface, click on Options then click Advanced, UNTICK ‘Only delete files in Windows Folders older than 24 hours’ -- this is important so that ALL temp files are cleaned.
Let’s start with Internet Explorer:
- Click on Tools > Internet Options and under the General tab change your Home Page to what suits you. Click OK.
- Click On Tools > Manage Add-ons, click on Search Providers in the new window, click HottieStar Toolbar to highlight it and then click Remove. Close the window.
Firefox:
- Click on Tools > Options and under Main change your Home Page to what suits you. Click OK.
- Click the down arrow beside your search box and click on Manage Search Engines.
- If HottieStar, SeekMo, SeekBrowser or any others that should not be there, simply click on each one and click Remove then click OK.
That’s it all done. Reboot so that Malwarebytes can finish the cleanup process and you will have your Homepage back and no Toolbar.
