SUPERAntiSpyware Portable

SUPERAntiSpyware Portable downloads with a random filename such as SAS_790E and as a COM file rather than an EXE file to thwart the malware that prevents security programs from running.

When downloaded to a USB stick simply double click to run and on the popup window click to start. The typical SUPERAntiSpyware interface opens with no need to update as the portable version is updated prior to users downloading it although once installed on a USB stick it can be updated just as the installed version can.

No installation files and no internet access required to use this free program.

A lot of malware now blocks security apps or uninstalls them completely and this is more frustrating for users who have these infections.

The best action is to make regular backups in the form of  a ghost image which can be restored rather than having to run through several programs and reboots to remove malware. Windows 7 has an excellent backup utility built in or images can be created using third party tools such as Macrium Reflect.

Many users do NOT make backups and therefore have to resort to removal programs.

I installed a bunch of malware including rootkits, bots, trojans, DNS changers and fake antivirus programs which stopped navigation to security sites and increased the CPU usage to 100%, so this made running any program very slow indeed.

SUPERAntiSpyware Portable is not perfect, no program is, but there is no installation and it simply runs 'as is' and in running processes it shows as PROGRAM.COM. It did remove a lot of malware as can be seen in the video, and as is normal for many removal programs,  a reboot was required to remove the traces.

It did leave behind quite a bit too, so I performed a scan with TDSSKiller which found the TDSS Rootkit which had modified the atapi.sys and allowed search and browser redirects. Another reboot to finalize the removal.

Third stage was to run Malwarebytes Antimalware which found further traces that were still infecting the system followed by another reboot, but it was only the use of SUPERAntiSpyware Portable that allowed me to run Malwarebytes.

So, three different programs that use different methods and three reboots back to a clean machine.

It is a very useful addition to any techies toolbox and for average users to to run off USB sticks and hopefully Malwarebytes will follow suit and make a portable version.
