Malicious Sites June 1

New additions of malicious and rogue sites for June 1, 2010 which may compromise your PC Security. Some may contain ‘driveby’ downloads, trojans, backdoor bots, rootkits, rogue programs (PUP’s) and all are to be considered a threat.

Also bear in mind that many of these use ‘fast flux’ techniques and may not resolve as they disappear from one domain and appear on another. These sites could harm your computer so it is advised to keep well away from them or add them to your Hosts file so that they are blocked.

Spycheck AntiSpyware Removal

This is another rogue application which differs from the normal fake scanners as it does not download malware with it and there are no popups.

Do NOT confuse this with spychecker.com which is a genuine and safe site.

This program has several download sites in different languages. Although it may appear cheap as a license can be obtained for as little as $2 for 1 month to $11 for 12 months, it can also do a lot of damage.

It bypasses the majority of antivirus programs and other security programs such as Threatfire and Microsoft Security Essentials. It does not install in Program Files as programs would normally do, but installs into My Documents instead.

The vendors of this garbage hope that unwary users will see this as a 'bargain' and a scan will quickly reveal threats such as Waledac, Zbot and assorted Trojans.

This is using 'scare' tactics in a bid to get users to purchase this rubbish and damage their computers.

It has long been known that malware generally does make changes to the System32 folder, exe files and dll's, but this program shows fake results and users who purchase this to 'remove' the threats will do more damage as essential files are removed from the system.

Users can help themselves by NOT downloading this so-called anti-spyware and stick to better known and trusted programs.

Do NOT become a victim by entering your credit card or Paypal details.
